10 Short-Lived Summer Romances that Made Heat Waves in Hollywood

A celebrity or two have had a summer fling—and then overshare it with the rest of us. It has a unique degree of connection that blossoms in the summer, and many of them wilt out as October approaches.

Even though it’s just the beginning of 2022, we have already kept an eye on celebrity couples this summer. As the season progresses, more unusual pairings will soon emerge. However, we can’t help but reflect on prior summer celebrity romances that didn’t make it to the finish line.

Leonardo DiCaprio & Blake Lively

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are picture-perfect together. But we can all agree that Leonardo DiCaprio and Lively’s five-month relationship was unforgettable. They were vacationing across places in 2011. Lively was on her A-game when she went out with DiCaprio. Unfortunately, the relationship faded, and they went on to string their career investments.

Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson

With all of the Pete Davidson and Kanye West turmoil, it’s easy to forget about the comedian’s relationship (and engagement) to Ariana Grande. They began dating in May 2018 and got engaged just a month later! On her fourth album credit, Grande even dedicated a song to Davidson. They broke up less than five months into their relationship. We’re on the move!

Zac Efron & Michelle Rodriguez

“A breath of fresh air,” Efron might have told his ex-girlfriend Michelle Rodriguez in the summer of 2014. The two started dating on July 4, getting intimate aboard a yacht in Italy. Their PDA continued over the summer and to other European destinations, with their most recent trip to Ibiza. Their two-month relationship has since come to an end. What a romantic summer vacation!

Kaley Cuoco & Henry Cavill

Kaley Cuoco and Henry Cavill may have the shortest celebrity relationship in history. They held hands on supermarket runs and walks around Los Angeles in June 2013. Things, though, had already fizzled out by the end of July. Cuoco stated that the 10-day affair (yes, the two were together for a week and a half) ended because of the overwhelming paparazzi scrutiny. Well, given their notable degrees, we cannot blame them.

Joe Jonas & Gigi Hadid

Rumors about Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas’ romance first surfaced in 2015, when the two were out and about together. They earned the moniker “G.I. Joe.” and dated for six months. Hadid even directed the music video for Jonas’ previous band DNCE’s Cake By The Ocean. However, their relationship ended badly.

Bella Thorne & Scott Disick

In 2017, everyone talked about Scott Disick and Bella Thorne’s relationship. However, a year later, the couple appears to have slipped into the background as Disick’s relationship with model Sofia Richie has grown more serious. But first, some knowledge: Disick and Thorne initially sparked dating rumors in May 2017 when they were “getting cuddly” in Cannes, France, then at dinner in Los Angeles. The flirtation, however, was short-lived. It’s all good now that they have earned career investments independently.

Justin Bieber & Sofia Richie

Sofia Richie is in between Justin Bieber’s on-again, off-again relationship with Selena Gomez. The couple appeared to be inseparable after a few cute Instagrams and dates together—until it ended.

Nina Dobrev & Glen Powell

Forget about Damon, Stefan, and Elena’s love triangle; remember Nina Dobrev and Glen Powell’s four-month romance? They began dating In July 2017. The couple’s connection went beyond the summer months, as they were seen together at a Global Globes party and Thanksgiving. Yet, by the end of November, it seemed that the romance had died down, with reports claiming that the couple needed some time apart credit to clashing schedules.

Nick Jonas & Lily Collins

When Nick Jonas disclosed that he had dated actress Lily Collins, he pulled a fast one on the press. Jonas acknowledged going on a couple of dates with Collins, calling her “wonderful.” There aren’t any other details about their love story. The romance didn’t work out because the singer is now married to Priyanka Chopra.

Taylor Swift & Tom Hiddleston

It’s unavoidable that a Swiftie romance will appear on this list at some point. In June 2016, they kissed beside a lake near Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island investment home. Tom Hiddleston subsequently met Swift’s parents and even donned a goofy “I Heart T.S.” top to a Fourth of July party, indicating that things had fast escalated. However, their summer love ended as August passed them by like a bottle of wine.
